September sees Men's & Women's teams steaming ahead in the Pennants
The Pennant season is winding down for both the Men’s & Ladies. The ladies final will be this Sunday where Broadbeach will play Tweed Heads. The Men’s Division 1 final is also this week hosted here at the club. The men’s teams have had the best year ever for the club. Heading into the last week of Pennant we have five divisions coming first and one division in 3rd place. All six teams can make the playoffs with five even getting a double chance. The Division 1 team went through the regular season undefeated.
The club is sponsoring/hosting the Division 1, 2, 3 & 4 finals. This is great profile raiser for the club plus gives our players a little extra advantage on winning the Pennant flag.
The AGM was held on the 8th of September. It was a great day with many members saying it was the best ever. Thank you to the Board for putting on refreshments and nibbles for the members.
We're currently looking at dates to hold the club drawn triples as well as the B Grade Singles and Pairs. These events will be played on Saturdays and sign up sheets will be on the noticeboard shortly.
The Over 50’s mid-week challenge has been cancelled for this year which was unfortunate. However the Summer 9’s will be starting in October.
Social bowls is still going strong. We are still getting four greens in the morning and roughly 50 - 60 in the afternoon which is tremendous. It is great to see top players from other clubs coming to play on our greens and our great prize money structure.
The ladies held the Prestige Pairs. Thank you to Bowlers Paradise, CUB and Broadbeach Bulls for sponsoring. It took a great effort to run a tournament with the current Covid restrictions and the ladies always do a great job in attracting a top field to the tournament.
